On the afternoon of June 20th, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor Wu Dashun from Guangxi Normal University visited the School of Literature and gave an academic lecture on the topic of "The Method of Yuefu Fu Titles and the Formation of Tang Dynasty Song Style" to the faculty and students. Professor Yang Jing presided over the lecture.
Professor Wu first reviewed the three ways in which literati proposed the Yuefu style before the Tang Dynasty, namely, the method of composing tunes, the method of composing chapters, and the method of composing titles. He emphasized that since the Qi and Liang dynasties, the method of composing titles for literati Yuefu style had a great dissolving effect on the ancient titles and poems of Yuefu style, which provided free creative space for the Yuefu style. By citing and analyzing multiple Tang Dynasty ancient Yuefu poems included in Guo Maoqian's "Yuefu Poetry Collection", it is pointed out that the method of assigning titles has been widely used in Tang Dynasty ancient Yuefu poems. This method not only expands the themes and creative space of ancient Yuefu poems, but also breaks through the institutional constraints of ancient Yuefu poems, gradually making the creation of ancient Yuefu poems more poetic. Professor Wu also summarized three types of Tang Dynasty song themes from the perspective of topic selection: ancient style themes, theme+lyric poetry themes, and self selected non lyric new themes.
In this lecture, Professor Wu focused on the new changes in the form of Yuefu poetry, using rich literary classics as the basis for discussion. He deeply revealed the historical background and literary origins of the emergence and prevalence of Tang Dynasty's singing style, and answered questions from teachers and students in detail, providing everyone with insights into academic perspectives and research ideas.
